Garwnant Forest

This is the biggest and the best of the Family Cycle Trails due to the wonderful forest scenery and the extensive facilities at the Garwnant Forest Visitor Centre.

As well as bike, child trailer and even kiddyseat hire in summer, there's a cosy café and some great play areas, including a rope course for those with a head for heights. Phone 01685 723060 for further details.

The main family cycle trail is approximately 5 miles long and should take around an hour for the average family to complete without stops. If you're feeling really energetic, there's an optional extension that will take it up to 11 miles. It weaves through the forest on good compacted tracks but there are a few hills to get up so be prepared to get off and walk in some places. The views are absolutely wonderful with some of the highest mountains in southern Britain just a stone's throw away.

Due to open on 23rd May 2008 are the walking and cycling trails, play equipment, car park, and portable chemical toilets. Food, refreshments and a new children's skills cycling area will hopefully open end of June 2008.
