Ride D: 12 Miles
Medieval Mystery

A shorter saunter that starts close to the colourful town of Llandeilo and explores the countryside in the far western corner of the National Park.

This is definitely a ride for the historian. It passes close to an impressive hill-fort at Garn Goch and then continues south to Carreg Cennen Castle, which, perched on the top of a three hundred foot cliff, has to be the most spectacularly situated castle in the area if not in the whole of Wales. The views from the walls are amazing and you'll find yourself wondering what it would have felt like to have been a guard on sentry duty at the time. Take a torch and you can also explore a secret tunnel that buries beneath the building.

With all these distractions, you'll need to take your time, so grab a spot of lunch in the tea-shop by the Castle or even at the excellent Cennen Arms in the tiny village of Trapp.
